We’ve been showing you the sleek Jaguar C-X16 concept car for several months. Enthusiasts and car pros were super excited about this car, and we caught wind in February that it might not be a concept any longer. Now, we have an affirmative. This super sports car – a full-size, (and convertible at launch) will be dubbed F-TYPE. It’s expected to be available for purchase in 2013. Target dates and production schedule to be announced later this year. The exciting news was announced last week at the New York Auto Show last week.
The C-X16 debut last September as a concept vehicle was exciting and so well-received – that Jag execs sprang into action to get the car into production. Jaguar’s Director of Design, Ian Callum, Director of Design, said: “A true sports car needs to be pure in both its purpose and its form; to have the opportunity to produce such a car for Jaguar has been a privilege both for myself and for my team. The C-type, D-type and E-type Jaguars were all sports cars that held true to this principle in their era, and the F-TYPE will hold true to that same principle in its time, a time that is soon to arrive.”Comments
Pushing the models to their limits, and leaving participants with serious performance driving training and the automotive experience of a lifetime.
To us, it is reminiscent of the “Shaguar” of Austin Powers movie fame, (sans the British flag paint work of course) but this little beauty is actually two years older, and could be yours for 70,000 euros at auction next month.
It is – in fact, a Jaguar though, a classic 1965 Jaguar E-Type that was once owned by the Rocket Man – that’s right – Sir Elton John.
Sir Elton bought the car in 1987. Often described as one of the most beautiful cars of all time, it was one of the fastest cars in the world in it’s heyday.

At Park Place Dealerships – we represent the finest the automotive industry has to offer. Our brands could all be considered ‘luxury’, but vary greatly from the super-safe and practical Volvo line, the the uber-luxurious vehicles in the Park Place Premier Collection – such as Bentley, Rolls-Royce and Maserati – to performance super cars from Porsche and more recently, McLaren.
MSN recently did a feature article on Exotic and luxury vehicles and compared them to a more realistic, but still luxury, alternative. With a format of “dream” versus “consider”, Park Place brands showed up on both sides of the curve. It was of the McLaren MP4-12c and the Mercedes-Benz SLS that were referred do as ‘dream’ cars.
Of our brands – it was Jaguar, Lotus and Mercedes-Benz who shone brightest of our brands as a great value, but top quality in performance and luxury in this article. Among them the 2012 Jaguar XK, the 2011 Lotus Exige the 2011 Lotus Evora and the Mercedes-Benz SLK-class.Comments
