Park Place Motorcars 2012 Fresh Faces of Fashion

June 28, 2012

Park Place Motorcars Dallas recently revealed its Freshest Face, the all-new 2013 SL550 Roadster, at the  6th Annual Fresh Faces of Fashion Reveal Party, held at the dealership’s Lemmon Avenue location.

Hosted with Modern Luxury Dallas Magazine and Stanley Korshak, the event welcomed over 500 guests and benefitted the Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas.

Joy Cioci’s fashions sizzled on the runway but our favorite models were the two SL550 Roadsters; steel gray with black leather interior and Iridium Silver with Red and Black Leather interior with Magic Sky Control!

Vy Tran purchased the winning raffle ticket, one of more than 740 $100 Raffle Tickets sold, for the chance to win the winner’s choice of the Mercedes-Benz C250 sedan or C Coupe.  The proceeds, of course, benefitted the Suicide and Crisis Center.  Park Place Motorcars Dallas also made an additional $10,000 contribution.  Margie Wright, the organization’s Executive Director was delighted to accept the donation and noted that this year’s Fresh Faces of Fashion events were some of their most successful fundraisers.

Park Place Salutes Community Partners – Grapevine/Colleyville Education Foundation

April 2, 2012

The Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation was founded in 1998 to provide funds for programs and opportunities that benefit GCISD students and staff. While core educational needs are met through the allocation of tax dollars, the margin of excellence is possible only by contributions and efforts that go above and beyond the minimum. Foundation funds are used to facilitate student achievement and skill development, recognize and encourage staff excellence and expand community involvement from individuals, businesses and civic organizations. Since its inception, the foundation has funded 875 projects, distributing more than $1.4 million to GCISD, affecting more than half the teachers and all the students.

“Like most Texas schools, our school district is facing unprecedented budget challenges under the current school finance laws. Park Place Motorcars has generously donated resources for the past few years to the Education Foundation whose sole purpose is to provide resources needed to our school district and where 100% of all donations stay within our school district to assist our students and teachers. Not only has Park Place been the featured sponsor for our Celebrating Our Stars Academic Recognition Banquet for several years, but also for the second year donates scholarships to graduates for continuing education. Park Place understands the importance of successful schools in communities and how communities must work together to ensure the success of our schools. Park Place’s support is a shining example of the need for and importance of collaborative efforts between our schools, community, and corporations. Our heartfelt thanks to Park Place!”  says Janice Kane, Executive Director.

With the unprecedented budget challenges facing Texas schools, the Foundation’s efforts are more critical than ever as educators are being forced to seek funding avenues outside the regular budget in order to continue vital educational programs. 100% of all donations to the Education Foundation stay within GCISD to assist GCISD students and teachers.

Park Place Porsche Unveils the Seventh-Generation Porsche 911

March 2, 2012

Park Place Porsche recently unveiled the new, seventh generation 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S. The dealership’s Lemmon Avenue showroom and service garage were turned into a contemporary entertainment palace with modern lounge seating, a Dapper cigar den and multiple bars with liquid libations including signature Stolichynaya Vodka, Hendrick’s Gin & Milagro Tequila cocktails, as well as a Balvennie & Glenfiddich Single-Malt Scotch tasting.

More than 900 guests eagerly surveyed the boldly redesigned sports car while tasting delicacies from Dallas’ favorite food trucks, including Nammi, The Butcher’s Son, So-Cal Tacos, Ruthie’s Rolling Café, and Trailercakes.

“Whether this will be a customer’s first 911 or just their latest Porsche, it’s going to be an incredibly exhilarating driving and ownership experience,” said Ken Schnitzer, chairman of Park Place Dealerships. “The 911 Carrera and Carrera S are perfect for drivers who want a true benchmark-setting sports car that they can put through its paces while still enjoying driving it all week long. It’s not just for show or weekend drives.”

For 2012, the 911 has been completely redesigned from the ground up. The new model preserves the classic 911 lines, yet Porsche designers revisited every inch for advances in power and fuel economy. While enthusiasts will recognize the 2012 911 Carrera at a glance, 90-percent of its components are either new or fundamentally revised. Its sleek and stretched silhouette, pulse-pounding contours and precisely designed features signal its rich heritage from every viewing angle. Longer, lower, wider, 100 pouinds lighter, faster and more efficient than previous models, the new 911 is the perfect blend of modern design, intelligent engineering and performance DNA.

In addition to aesthetic improvements, both new models offer significant performance enhancements. The 2012 911 Carrera is equipped with a new, 350-horsepower, 3.4-liter boxer engine, while the Carrera S features a 400-horsepower, 3.8-liter boxer engine—a 15hp improvement over its predecessor. The 911 Carrera with Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) accelerates from zero to 60 in 4.4 seconds, while the Carrera S sprints from zero to 60 in a mere 4.1 seconds. That time is reduced even further to 3.9 seconds when equipped with the Sports Chrono Package Plus. Top track speeds for the 911 Carrera and Carrera S are 179 and 188 mph, respectively.

As with every generation, the new 911 Carrera continues to raise the bar in both performance and efficiency. This is achieved through systems such as the Automatic Start/Stop function, engine and transmission thermal management, electrical system recuperation, the world’s first seven-speed manual transmission and—in conjunction with PDK—the ability to ‘sail’ or coast. The new electro-mechanical power steering offers the typical Porsche precision and helps to increase efficiency and reduce fuel consumption.

The new 911 Carrera Coupe will have a base MSRP of $82,100, and the 911 Carrera S Coupe will start at $96,400 (excluding destination fees).

More than 600 fans attended the sold-out fundraiser and raised more than $250,000 for the Dallas Stars Foundation, which supports local children’s charities that positively impact the lives of children through teamwork, interaction and education.

“Casino Night is the most anticipated Foundation event,” said Lora Farris, Executive Director of the Dallas Stars Foundation. “We have fans who look forward to the event each year and are always eager to purchase tickets when they first go on sale.”

Stars players, coaches and broadcasters acted as casino dealers while interacting with guests. When not dealing, Stars players and personnel walked around the dealership greeting fans and signing autographs.

“The Stars players are the best,” said Stephen James, General Manager of Park Place Jaguar Plano. “They’re very down to earth. They mingle and talk to everybody. It’s a lot of fun for everyone.”

Casino games and tables were set up in both showrooms. Auction items lined one wall and the service garage was filled with tables laden with delectable dishes from III Forks Steakhouse, including beef tenderloin croustades, chicken satay with peanut sauce, mini crabcakes, seared Ahi tuna nachos, Kobe beef sliders and the incomparable III Forks Salad. Brown-Forman provided specialty cocktails like Honey Nut Martinis, Gentleman Jack Old Fashions and Whiskey Sours and a Parisian Cosmo. “The partnership between Park Place and the Dallas Stars has been long and mutually beneficial,” concluded James. “It’s a great way to give back to the community. The Dallas Stars Foundation helps a number of different charitable organizations, so we can touch many lives throughout the year because of this one great event.”

The Dallas Stars Foundation focuses its efforts on providing support to the children of the community so they may lead quality lives and develop into contributing members of society. Through teamwork, interaction, and education, the Dallas Stars Foundation works to bring together all members of the Metroplex and build a bright future for today’s youth.
